About Joel Strom

Joel Strom is RECLAIM's director of capacity building. To Joel, this means supporting the wellbeing of our staff, cultivating a community of politicized and values-aligned healers, and helping to develop programming rooted in collective care. His career has spanned a wide range of disciplines. After years in hospitality, trade industries, and academia, in 2016 he found his way to University Beyond Bars as first a course instructor and then as staff. He worked to build communities of growth and learning with systems-impacted folks at UBB as an educator and administrator. In his current role, he manages the design and development of RECLAIM's programs. Joel centers community, relationships, accountability, and equity in his work.
