Why do you believe programs like this are worth supporting?
Programs like these are worth supporting because they offer healing rooted in dignity, community, and cultural connection, especially for those impacted by systems of incarceration that are deeply tied to colonial and racialized violence. Therapy that centers lived experience, cultural identity, and collective care helps people reclaim their wholeness and reconnect with community, not just to survive, but to truly thrive beyond the carceral system. Additionally, providing financial support for mental health care is a vital part of this work. It affirms that access to healing is a right, not a luxury, and removes the economic barriers that too often stand in the way. By covering the cost of care, this support ensures that individuals can prioritize their wellness and engage in meaningful transformation without being held back by financial hardship.
Through the Collective Care Workgroup, clinicians are also supported in learning, unlearning, and showing up more effectively for formerly incarcerated individuals. This creates space for reciprocal healing, where providers grow in their own practice and humanity, while contributing to the broader work of community repair and liberation.

Therapy has been absolutely amazing. Tiffany is a gift to anyone who is fortunate enough to work with her and I am so grateful y'all connected us with her. She has helped us to build up our relationship tool box and deal with things as they come up. Y'all gave us an opportunity to access something that we needed so much in a time where money may have prevented us from being able to do so. This therapy program is a true gift to community and I will be forever grateful.

Therapy has been a big part of my growth since I've been transitioning out of prison. It's helped me understand myself better and focus on my future and not just where I've been. I've learned healthier, and better ways to deal with challenges in the real world. Therapy has helped me to move forward with life. It is helping me grow into someone I'm proud of becoming.
Since I joined this program it has been a great powerful step in my transition back into the community/real world. It has given me support and resources.I have set goals, and I am accountable, and believe in my ability to build a better future for myself.
I think the most meaningful thing about RECLAIM is receiving therapy is that I am learning about myself. One side of me says everybody needs therapy, and in the recent past I used to be like "oh well everybody is going through some hard times so just deal with it because the world doesn't really give a damn about your mental health". To be real, most people of color, not all, but a lot of people of color didn't go to therapy in the past. I'm not saying that all minorities think like me, but I've heard a lot of people of color say it's for white people, which isn't true. Im am giving my personal opinion and experience. RECLAIM therapy has helped me work through things I used to carry alone, and has helped me find better healthier ways to cope.Therapy has given me space to grow and not to dwell on the past, but to look toward the future That i'll be proud of.

How has therapy supported you or your loved ones?
We are learning each other from scratch. This transition is nothing we could have prepared for. Therapy is the only reason we have been able to stay in this together.
What’s changed for you since joining the program?
Communication and understanding is what this program has granted us. Its really given us a second chance because we were spiraling before therapy was an option. When love isn't enough our tools help us with the tough spots.
What’s been most meaningful about receiving therapy through RECLAIM?We honestly couldn't afford it without this program. My insurance was unable to provide individual and couples therapy so it's been a lifesaver.

The therapy voucher program offers a guaranteed opportunity to receive consistent support from a therapist. Having this access means that clients can experience, sometimes for the first time, unconditional positive regard from somebody who doesn’t need anything from them, and who’s going to show up and be kind and compassionate. Other than having our basic material needs met, there’s nothing more important than being understood and cared for in this world. Sometimes, when we’re building our lives, we start with a therapist as the first person in our corner; knowing someone’s there for you can make all the difference.

The therapy I was able to obtain through RECLAIM has been absolutely instrumental during my post-incarceration transition. It’s a rocky journey, and having my therapist as a guide, someone I could confide all my ideas, worries, and stresses with confidentially was truly essential for my recovery.
I didn't realize how much of myself was still locked away after my release. The program didn't just help me process my experience; it helped me find and connect with the person that I had, in a sense, imprisoned inside. Therapy allowed me to reconnect with parts of myself I had never seen before and fundamentally learn who I was in this new chapter of life.
